The Facilit8 tree symbolises the connectedness of human beings, whatever their background, culture, hopes and ambitions.
Conflict, disputes and differences of opinion are part of our nature. Many are successfully reconciled every day. Many are not. Many more could be.

For Mediators

Foundation Commercial Mediation Skills

Facilit8 is the exclusive commercial mediation training provider for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators both internationally and in the UK. On successful completion of the assessment module, candidates can apply for membership and can style themselves MCIArb (Mediation) or CIArb Accredited Mediator.

The highest quality of foundation training is the best investment you will ever make in your mediation practice. It will sustain you when you are challenged; it will teach you how to learn the special skills required for mediating effectively and how to grow those skills.

If you are serious about practising as a mediator then taking time to research the courses available is a must. If you are not yet sure that the profession is for you, then look for a well run introduction course to check out how you get on with the principles and the skills requirements.

With us, the learning starts before the course begins and endures for as long as you choose to engage with us. We use technology to complement face-to-face learning; in fact we introduced online resources in 2003 long before blogs and social media had established themselves.

We recommend that you download our training brochure for tips on what you might consider when choosing a course. Your commitment is not just financial; it is equally precious time out of your professional life. Our commitment is to raising our game to meet the needs of the fantastic people who train with us. As you read through the questions, ask yourself if that is important for you too.

You can also read about the experiences of others who have attended the course.

If you still have questions or you wish to explore if the training is for you, then please contact us. No obligation.

One important difference about this course is that we have a rest day after day three of training. There are two reasons for that. The first is that as busy professionals it is difficult to take a whole week out of the office. It is equally difficult to maintain the intensity of learning required to really make the best of the course without some time to reflect on the process so far.

Each group is different and each student brings different skills and strengths. As trainers, we are 100% 'live' every day and we need some time to reflect on your progress, make adjustments to the programme to ensure you have the very best chance in your assessment. This is not 'off the shelf'; this is personalised training at the highest level achieved within a class environment.

Assessment and Accreditation

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators' assessment module is unique in at least two respects: Firstly the assessment team is entirely independent of the course delivery. Secondly, we were the first training team to design an assessment process using actors to offer a better experience and to ensure consist standards for all who participate. Others have started to follow our lead in this.
